The length of the Maternelle program is either three or four years, depending on the age the child starts the program. Each year is designed to serve the needs of the following age groups: two-year-olds (Toute Petite Section -TPS), three-year-olds (Petite Section -PS), four-year-olds (Moyenne Section – MS), and five-year-olds (Grande Section – GS or Kindergarten). Children are typically placed in a group according to their age.
The Maternelle being a first experience with school, we understand that some children may benefit from a part-time program where all fundamentals are introduced very progressively. For that reason, our school offers a two or three-day-per week option in the TPS and PS programs. Children are all full-time in MS and GS.
The French Maternal School’s approach provides for two teachers in every classroom. The low ratio of teachers to students (between 1:4 and 1:8) allows for small group learning and individual instruction, meeting the needs of each student.
Drop off is between 8:30am and 8:55am; instruction starts at 9am. Dismissal is at 3pm and our aftercare starts at 3:15pm. We offer a drop-off assistance in the morning between 8:35 and 8:50am on both campuses.
